Join the Lab

There are several routes to pursuing your Ph.D. research in microbial ecology, evolution, and biogeochemistry at the University of Chicago. Students from several different programs have rotated in or joined our lab, including Geophysical Sciences, Biophysical Sciences, Committee on Microbiology, Ecology & Evolution, and Committee on Evolutionary Biology. If you are interested in joining our lab and are unsure about which program is best for you, please contact Maureen by email (mlcoleman@uchicago.edu).

Prospective postdocs should contact Maureen by email with a CV and description of research interests. We are especially interested in candidates with a strong background and publications in bacterial genetics, microbiology, biochemistry, virology, and/or metagenomics.

There may be opportunities for highly motivated undergraduates to get involved in our research. Students majoring in GeoSci, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Computer Science are especially encouraged to apply.
